William Graves
2013 D.W. Brooks Award for Excellence in Teaching
Department: Animal and Dairy Science
Graves is a professor in the Department of Animal and Dairy Science. He has been on the faculty of the University of Georgia since 2001. He teaches four classes and three labs. He is a graduate and undergraduate student advisor. He also advises the Dairy Science Club and coaches the Dairy Judging Team.
Graves serves as the departmental Extension coordinator and works with dairy producers and organizations across Georgia. He also coordinates the Georgia 4-H Dairy Youth Program.
Graves is a member of the American Dairy Science Association, Gamma Sigma Delta and Dairy Shrine.
He was awarded the 2012 UGA Student Government Association Professor Recognition Award. He was the first and only person honored by the students in his department to be a two time recipient of the Larry Benyshek Teaching Award. He also received the UGA Career Center Graduate Career Development Recognition in 2012 and 2013.
Graves received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Clemson University. He later earned his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. Prior to joining UGA, he was employed by the University of Tennessee for 18 years.
